COVID-19 Resources

Gov. Tim Walz extended his executive order for all Minnesotans, except those providing essential functions, to stay home until May 4.

On March 31, clarification was added to the State's website that stated CBD retail employees were not exempted from the order.

Just as a reminder, the MHA has been in conversation with the Department of Agriculture and Governor's office about this decision and we will keep you updated on its progression.

In the meantime, two things to know if you are a retailer:

1) You can contact CriticalSectors@state.mn.us to apply for exemption.

2) You are still allowed to use e-commerce to fulfill orders and continue serving customers.

As you may also know, the federal government has made Small Business Loans available to businesses suffering during Covid-19. We have heard there are issues facing CBD stores and other hemp businesses regarding their eligibility for these loans. We’ve reached out to our federal representatives to get clarification on this and it does appear that retail businesses selling legally derived hemp CBD products should qualify for SBA loans. If you encounter issues applying, please reach out to us. In the meantime, you can learn more about the federal loan programs online.
